Coach's Corner: Study of EV Representation on Dealer Websites

Fascinating insights into the online car buying experience

Electric Vehicle sales continue to increase every year. But are dealerships' websites ready to help EV customers find the information they need?

A study conducted by Maritz of 556 retailers in the state of California in 2022-2023 unveiled some concerning trends about EV content and representation on dealership websites.

As you can see above, the study found the following:

  • 33% did not provide EV battery warranty information
  • 38% did not link to critical EV resources such as charging station maps, fuel savings calculators or carpool lane eligibility 
  • 37% did not include info on the benefits of buying an EV such as rebates, maintenance costs, and environmental benefits
  • 71% did not feature service content around electric vehicles
  • 11% lacked the presence of electric vehicles in their specials
